My husband I were enjoying drinking a coffee outside of our favorite coffee shop when I saw at the nearby outdoor skate park an older lady walking fast around the skate park. She was by herself but she was taking advantage of the nice day and finding a place where she could exercise. It was so inspiring to see someone getting out there and finding ways to exercise. I introduced myself to her and realized she didn’t speak English. I tried telling her what I thought she was doing was so great and to keep it up. I high fived her and she proceeded to show me the other exercises she does which included throwing one leg over the park bench and bending over her leg and standing and back up, she then arches over the bench in a back bend position. She did this and held up all 10 fingers to show me she does this 10 times. After that she holds onto the bench and does full squats with her butt to the ground and lastly she does push-ups on the bench. She again, held up all 10 fingers to show me she does this 10 times. What an inspiration that she takes it upon herself to find ways to exercise. She’s doing it without an instructor, or a gym, or fancy equipment just getting outside and moving. When I hear people making excuses why they can’t exercise, I think of this lady. The body was designed to move. Find ways to move you body, it’s the only you have.
