Tips for Runners Over 50
Coach Parry shares things runners over 50 must STOP doing. Some of the tips shared are:
- Running everyday. More recovery time is needed to get the benefits of training.
- Comparing yourself to the younger you. Instead, keep track of your season’s best times, and try to beat last year’s times.
- Skimping on sleep. We must make an effort to get good quality and quantity of sleep.
- Training harder to prevent natural declines in performance.
- Neglecting strength training. Strength training is critical as we get older to slow down the decline of muscle mass.
- Under-fueling for training.
Coach Parry also offers a Faster Beyond 50 Masterplan on their site and a strength training plan for runners.
